Reading Tesco security guard attacked and racially abused

Police were called to a Reading supermarket after a security guard had been assaulted and racially abused. It had been reported that a man had assaulted a Tesco security guard before leaving the premises. At around 10:55pm on Friday, May 6, police were called to the Tesco Express on Market Place, Reading.

Officers detained and arrested a 35-year-old man on Broad Street who matched the description of the person who had assaulted the security guard. They found stolen goods including several bottles of alcohol. The man, from Reading was later released pending investigation.

It was reported a man had assaulted and racially abused a security guard before leaving.

“A man matching the description given was detained on Broad Street and was found to be in possession of several bottles of alcohol, some of which had security tags on. A 35-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment/alarm/distress with words and handling stolen goods. He was released under investigation.
