Body Cam Video of Deadly Louisiana Arrest Contradicts Police Report
May 21, 2021 There is new outrage in Louisiana following the release of police body cam footage showing a violent 2019 arrest of a man who later died. Now there are questions into whether the officers tried to cover it up.
A lawyer for the family of Ronald Greene says they were initially told he crashed his car while being chased by Louisiana state troopers. That claim was put forward in their official police report. However, bodycam footage shows police pulling Greene from the car after the chase and repeatedly tasing, kicking, and punching him.
Greene’s attorney said his client was surrendering to police, but they continued to attack.
Louisiana State Police released a statement on Thursday saying “LSP is confident in the judicial system and fair review of this incident and continues to offer our full cooperation.”
They go on to say “the unauthorized release of evidence undermines the investigative process and compromises the fair and impartial outcome for the Greene family.”
