Police have cordoned off Wath Road, in Mexborough, amid reports of a shooting

South Yorkshire Police were initially called to Wath Road, just outside the Farmfoods Store, in Mexborough, at around 5pm today. Emergency services remain at the scene this evening where armed police officers have cordoned off a large section of the road. It is believed that a young man has been shot.

A force spokesperson said: “Police were called to Wath Road, Mexborough, at 4.46pm today (Monday) following reports of a shooting.

“Officers are currently at the scene as investigations continue.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information that may help police, should call 101 and quote incident number 495 of January 11.
