Three injured as police called to reports of group fighting with 'baseball bats' in Chiseldon

Reports of a baseball bat being used in a brawl saw police officers scrambled to a Chiseldon cul-de-sac. Police said a man in his 40s and a woman, 30s, were injured during the fighting. The man suffered what was described as a puncture-type wound.

The woman suffered a facial injury. Another man, 18, received a minor injury in the incident. None of the injuries are thought to be life threatening.

Officers were called to Windmill Piece, Chiseldon, at around 8.15pm to reports of a disorder. One woman, who lives on the street, told the Adver she had heard a lot of people shouting and saw someone hitting another around the head with a baseball bat. Another, Lisa Love, said: “It was absolutely terrifying.

I genuinely thought someone was going to get killed.” One woman, 45, said: “We’re too busy trying to keep our kids away from the windows. They get upset when they hear the shouting.

It’s not the first time it’s happened.” A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are currently ongoing and residents living nearby should expect to see a police presence in the area this evening as officers carry out enquiries.” No arrests have been made.

The force has appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. UPDATE: 11pm

Armed officers and the dog unit helped response cops in an apparent arrest bid at a home on Castle View Road, Chiseldon.
