Ex-Pro¨ Silver SOLAR Dummy / Fake CCTV sk© Security SAVER SALE Camera /Outdoor Camera with Solar pannel for flash LED (Camera)

My ‘camera’ arrived three days after ordering it. It was packaged very well. Although it is manufactured from plastic and is very light, it looks very much like the ‘real thing’, finished in a smart silver colour with authentic looking decals. To access the battery compartment it is much easier to remove the ‘camera’ from the mounting bracket by unscrewing the the adjustable thumb screw. Remove the solar charging panel from the top carefully as it will be attached to the battery pack by small electrical wires. Unscrew the lens cover anti-clockwise and then the battery pack can be removed from inside the camera. I used two AA Duracell rechargeable batteries. Then reinsert the battery pack back inside the camera and replace the lens cover by lining up the two small raised markers on the cover and the body of the camera and then turning it clockwise for about a centimetre to secure it. Take care that the rubber sealing washer is correctly in place on the body of the camera before turning the lens cover. The bracket is very easy to mount on a suitable wall with the screws and rawl plugs provided. Re-attach the camera to the bracket and carefully slide the solar panel plate to the top of the of the camera body, so that it protrudes over the front of the lens by about three centimetres. Adjust the body of the camera on the bracket to the required ‘coverage’ and then tighten the thumb screw. DO NOT over tighten as you will probably break the thumb screw. Remember the whole unit is made of plastic and is very light. The ‘camera’ should be mounted if possible at least ten feet from the ground. My ‘camera’ is fixed on the front wall of my garage, slightly covered by the car port but with plenty of available sunlight to re-charge the batteries. The authentic looking multiple led lenses are very convincing. There is a live led which flashes every five or six seconds. I live in the end of a cul-de-sac and my car is often parked on my drive until late evening. When it starts to get dark the ‘camera’ really does come into its own, with the led flashing light clearly visible from at least fifty yards away. The deterrent value is very good. The only way to find out if it’s a ‘live’ camera would be to rip it off the wall if you could reach it. I think for the money, it is a exceptional piece of kit, that will make any intruder think more than twice. If you wanted the real thing you would be looking at well over a hundred pounds with all the wiring and a recorder.

Ex-Pro¨ Silver SOLAR Dummy / Fake CCTV sk© Security SAVER SALE Camera /Outdoor Camera with Solar pannel for flash LED (Camera)

I’ve positioned this quite high up on a garage so it looks pretty realistic to be honest. I just inserted the 2 rechargeable batteries (not included) and the red LED started flashing straight away (you can use it with normal AA batteries too). Since I was attaching mine to a wooden wall, it took me all of 5 minute to install it. Up close though it does look a bit plastic, mainly because it is all made of plastic! The yellow CCTV sticker you get with it though is a bit poor quality, other than that, the instructions were easy to follow and it was easy to put up. Not bad for around a tenner.

Ex-Pro® Black SOLAR Dummy / Fake CCTV sk© Security SAVER SALE Camera /Outdoor Camera with Solar panel for flash LED [LARGE Version] (Camera)

Very pleased with the way they look. Despite some answers to my questions saying that there is a flashing red light (real cameras do not flash) it does NOT flash, there is just a red ring of LEDs when dark that makes the camera look very real. Positioned mine not too close to the front of the property on the basis that from a distance it is impossible to tell they are fake. Time will tell if they last, will be using some Vaseline (or similar) around the rear where the battery cover is to ensure moisture does not get in and erode the battery connections. Fingers crossed!
