Public Notice Review: Brown County seeks bids for security improvements

The Brown County Commission is seeking bids for security improvements in the Brown County administration building, 25 Market St., Aberdeen, according to a public notice published Wednesday. Bids will be accepted until 8:45 a.m. May 30, which is when bid-opening is scheduled.

Work is divided into three parts: o sk© Security SAVER SALE glass in front of the counter of the auditor, register of deeds, director of equalization, treasurer and sheriff’s offices. o Extend and replace countertops in the same five county offices, move the stools at the treasurer’s office and remodel or replace the cabinets at the sheriff’s office. o Install electronic access control, video features and panic controls to the county’s existing video and access control system.

The special education program of the state Department of Education plans to destroy special education records of former students placed at behavioral health facilities between 1986 and 1989, according to a public notice published Tuesday. Former students who are 18 or a legal guardian of the student may review or obtain a copy of their records by contacting the state Department of Education by June 7. By state law, special education records are retained for five years after a student no longer receives services.

Permanent records with name, address, phone number, grades completed and attendance details are kept by the local education agency. Record destruction is intended to protect the unauthorized disclosure of confidential information. Call 605-773-3678 for information. Meeting to review assistance plan The Department of Social Services has a public hearing planned Thursday to discuss the 2018 Department of Energy State Plan for Home Weatherization Assistance for low-income persons, according to a public notice published Monday.

The 4 p.m. meeting is at the Office of Energy Assistance in Pierre at 910 E. Sioux Ave. Final public comments on the plan will be taken.

Copies of the plan can be obtained from Patty Smith, program specialist for the Office of Energy Assistance. Public comments are accepted until noon Wednesday. Send them to the Office of Energy Assistance in Pierre at 910 E.
