Trump team fights back after CNN accuses Monica Crowley of plagiarizing parts of her book

Monica Crowley, named national security communications specialist for the Trump administration, has been accused of plagiarizing portions of her 2012 book “What The (Bleep) Just Happened.” A CNN K File[1] investigation claimed that Crowley plagiarized more than 50 sections of her book but the Trump team has dismissed the report as a political attack.

“Monica’s exceptional insight and thoughtful work on how to turn this country around is exactly why she will be serving in the Administration,’ a spokesperson for the Trump transition team told CNN. “HarperCollins–one of the largest and most respected publishers in the world–published her book which has become a national best-seller. Any attempt to discredit Monica is nothing more than a politically motivated attack that seeks to distract from the real issues facing this country.” The CNN report highlighted a list Crowley wrote, of “porktastic spending items” that the report said came from a podiatrist’s 2004 website.

It cited another eleven sections from the book that show striking similarities to articles written in the National Review by Crowley’s friend Andrew C McCarthy, CNN reported.

The KFile report also pointed out seeming examples of plagiarism against other conservatives such as Michelle Malkin, Rich Lowry and Karl Rove and also sections from Politico, the Associated Press and the New York Times. The report also called out a section on Keynesian politics that resembled something written by Investopedia.
