A source said the three-time former chief minister will continue to remain in the Z Plus security level without NSG cover until the state security review coordination committee finds his threat perception has changed.Till then, Gogoi will have the state commandos guarding him as in the case of his successor Sarbananda Sonowal, who is also in the Z Plus security level but is protected by state guards and not the NSG.The state government has already recommended NSG cover for Sonowal but the Centre is yet to approve of it.The octogenarian former chief minister was put in the Z Plus security category with NSG cover 10 years back after his threat perception was reported to have increased because of his tough stand against militant groups and jihadi elements. On Thursday, he said he was shocked by the Centre’s decision.”The chief minister’s office gave me a fax, sent from the NSG headquarters yesterday, saying the NSG men have been withdrawn.

I am out of office but I am still active.
