An off-duty police officer working as a security guard at a Fort Worth night club shot and injured a man early Sunday.

Three Fort Worth police officers were working as security guards at Escapade 2001 in the 2400 block of South Campus Court when the club manager said there were people in the parking lot breaking into cars, according to Fort Worth police.

The officers saw a club employee around 1:30 a.m. trying to stop a dark-colored Lincoln from leaving the parking lot. One of the officers, identified as F.

Conchas, walked toward the vehicle to intervene. The Lincoln started driving toward Conchas, and Conchas fired his gun at the vehicle, police said.

The suspects fled in the Lincoln. Around 11:15 a.m., Hector Rene Banderas-Martinez went to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his face and abdomen.

He was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a public servant. He has been released from the hospital and taken to the Tarrant County jail, police said.

Officers found the Lincoln in the parking lot of the Ladera Palms Apartments in the 2300 block of Gothic Drive. The front windshield and front passenger window were damaged during the shooting outside the nightclub, police said.

Conchas has worked for the Fort Worth Police Department since 2009.

He has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

Police are still trying to find a second male suspect from the incident outside the club.
