NAACP Calls For More Investigation Into Shooting Involving Tulsa sk© Security SAVER SALE Guard TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma NAACP has called for further investigation into a security guard shooting that left 21-year-old Monroe Bird paralyzed.

The Tulsa County District attorney on Wednesday ruled security guard Ricky Stone was justified in the Feb.

Police said Bird was in a car with a teenage girl at a south Tulsa apartment complex when Stone asked for identification. Stone told officers Bird backed up the car and hit him, so he shot through the window in self defense. The Oklahoma NAACP said its “commitment is to ensure authorities conducted a proper investigation and to justify why no arrest has been made.

A spokesperson for the Bird family released a statement, calling the guard overzealous and saying Bird had a right to be at the apartment complex because he was visiting his sister who lived there.
